Hi Shaun,
am also in Dunfermline.
I'd try and get the bits together for a cheap box (eg 500MHz processor) =
and have it running separately.
I've installed mandrake 9 which I got off Linux Format mag in December. =
but can't help on dual-boot systems. Mandrake ha sbeen pretty good, =
using KDE as the GUI.
had a problem with networking windows and llinux box but with the help =
of David managed to get the gateway resolved.
regards Brian

Hi everyone my name is Shaun Moran and I live in Dunfermline. I am =
interested in setting up a dual boot system with xp/me on an Athlon 1800 =
desktop with a 60g disk. I have no experience at all with linux systems. =
=20
Windows authentication procedures for xp have been the spur to =
investigate this possibility, however I remain nervous about the =
prospect of a)"messing about" with a functioning system and b) learning =
about an unfamiliar OS.=20
=20
Can I have some advice please?
=20
I have read about different distros, what would you recommend to a new =
user? What information do I need to collect about my hardware prior to =
insatllation? I have never partitioned a drive before how do I do it? =20
=20
Thank you
=20
