VPNs - Network Security's Magic Bullet

About the Talk

VPNs are a tool incredibly widely used in business for everything from
remote access to linking sites together. Although frequently used to add and
augment security, there are a number of common ways in which they're
misused, as well as architectural flaws in VPN technology which make them
ill-suited at what they do - and in some instances less secure!

James will discuss some of these weaknesses and what implications they can
have, as well as outlining other ways of giving people remote access to
services and data cheaply, securely, and easily.

Speaker Bio

James works as an infrastructure security consultant for a consultancy with
clients ranging from small businesses with a handful of employees to
multinational banks and Fortune 200 companies. He has experience
implementing, supporting, fixing, and breaking a wide variety of
technologies.
