Simon Wilkinson and Stephen Quinney will be talking in next week's Edlug
presentation about the School of Informatics at the University of
Edinburgh's use of Linux and other free software to provide a computing
infrastructure for all of our staff and students.

You can find a more formal abstract at
http://scotlug.org.uk/wiki/Edlug-2007-10-04

Edlug meetings are held at
http://scotlug.org.uk/wiki/Edinburgh_Training_and_Conference_Venue

In summary, this is about using open source components to manage a system of
around 1500 machines, supporting over four thousand accounts.
The supported desktop system is entirely Linux based, as are most servers.

The breadth of the topic means that this will be a fairly high level
overview, but there will be plenty of pointers for people interested in
finding out more.
