I agree.  I had actually forgotton about GNU and kicked myself when you
mentioned it.
Their gawk and wget stuff was superb (and actually very readable).

Two features of good documentation:

1. Comprehensive.
2. Readability

GNU seems to score high on both stakes.

That _should_ be helpful.

In the discussion about documentation last night I kept forgetting to
say, the GNU docs are  amongst the best and most complete documentation
I have ever read, if the other Open Source organisation took
documentation anywhere near as seriously as GNU/FSF does then their
would be no problem.
