[Sussex] Suse 8.1 technical question?

I'm suspecting that there is no CD in the drive. Usually an I/O error
means that there is a fault with a device, but with removable media, it
can report that there is a fault with it if there is no disk in the drive.

I'm also suspecting that SuSe has incorporated the CDROM into a file
called /etc/fstab. You could try removing the reference to CD in this
file.
