For the Benefit of Adam, and for clarification
I set up Wired4Life over 3 years ago . My view was this.
Small and Medium Businesses would benefit from Open Source Answers.
In general Wired4life replaces the MS File and Mail Servers with Linux
based applications such as Samba, Exim, Fetchmail, Apache, Squirrelmail
and IPCOP.
I quite a while back encouraged Neil Ford to get involved , as work wise
i was getting overly busy.
My involvements with (C)actus was a districtation and whilst they still
promote Open Source, they now use MS products in the back office again.
However im back on track and again delivering Open Source to the masses.
In general im with mr Ford on the view that Windows at the desktop is
suited to the majority of users. However Mr Smiths attempts to make a
simple X window interface are extremely valid and in my honest opinion
worthwhile as many consumers out there really do just want to
Email Mozilla or Squirrelmail ?
Surf Mozilla or Opera or ?
Chat Gaim ...
Cam Plenty of Good USB cam drivers
Write Letters. Open Office
However we always come back to the old issue of how you might integrate
such functionality in the office. where file sharing and common
directories are the key.
Im not sure if this helps.
