I haven't heard of any such falling out, it's more likely to do with Dixons
signing exclusive deals with people (like Sony) which involve not stocking
companies who manufacture competing products - under this scheme Dixons get
a preferential rate on goods and get to stock goods other shops cannot and
get preference during supply shortages. Dixons can negiotate this because
they hold near monopoly on high street electronics - they are important to
the electronics companies in the UK. This activity is very common in the
USA - thats why you get nationwide, consumer focused computer chains that
will only stock Apple. Arguably these deals kept Apple alive through the
bad days - that and the educational market.
