As has been noted on the list, the EU is a mainly left-wing organisation,
and despite Microsofts recent attempts to buy off important people with
employment, they certainly are unlikely to be sold on the benefits of
running Microsoft software to the European economy. Unlike the US
government most European countries realised that a change in domanant
platform would create jobs in a local environment, even if it does costs
jobs in Redmond.
If a harsh sentence is passed down, I wonder is the US government will try
applying pressure to help Microsoft - that would be an interesting
situation.
This is what I meant about the potential of the EU to stand against the
might of the USA. V. encouraged.
