Angelo (and any other newbies) ESR is Eric S. Raymond. Not only is he the
author of a number of interesting programs (principly "fetchmail"), he also
mantains the Jargon file (And it's printed equivalent "The new hackers
dictionary"), wrote some acclaimed articles about the nature of the internet
community and open source development (collected together in his book "The
cathedral and the bazaar" - named for his most famous article), and is the
self-appointed marketing manager for the concept of Open Source software (as
opposed to Free Software).
