Gtk on windows... well you can live on it but it tastes like sh/t!

Listen.. if your plan is to go cross platform I'd avise any of the following 
before Gtk:

- WxWindows
- Qt 3
- Java / Swing
- Fox
- Tk

Gtk on windows is an unreliable hack at best and the documentation sucks..  if 
your work is non-commercial then Qt3 is easily the best library for what you 
want and is very well documented (there is an excellent O'Reily book (which I 
own)).
