Dominic,

AFAIK to get ATI mobility chipsets working you just need the radeon, r200 or rage128 drivers (depending on which mobility chipset it is you are using).  

Updated, accelerated drivers are available from http://dri.sourceforge.net  

Download a install package from 
http://dri.sf.net/snapshots

Un-tar it and run the install script and away you go..
