[Sussex] MS Exchange replacements?

Niall,
I'm evaluating opengroupware.org. Ultimately, it provides the same services
as Exchange PLUS Sharepoint portal server, so is a pretty damn comprehensive
suite.
It's the free (no money) derivative from Skyrix, and not _quite_ as stable
yet... but catching up fast.
It's actually an overlay layer that sits on top of:
- A messaging server, recommended = Cyrus, also works with Courier and
Washington
- An LDAP server, recommend = OpenLDAP, also works with Sun ONE and Novell
- A database server, recommend = Postgress, also works with Frontbase
(included) Oracle (chargeable), and Sybase (chargeable)
The bad news is that if you want to continue to use Outlook, you need a
WebDAV middleware server such as Zidestore (open source), and (and here's
the rub), a MAPI Storage Provider (such as Zidelook).
The Zidestore server is also needed for integrating with things like Ximian
evolution. However, there's a native web interface.
If I'm honest, if you need a product TODAY, then go for SUSE Groupware
server and Skyrix. If you can wait, even just a month or so, then OGo looks
like being an excellent product.
Regards,
Mark
