Can anyone help?

Q1. I find that even OOo 1.1.0 is a bit slow loading first time - is it
worth using prelinking to speed things up? can I prelink just OOo and a few
other bits like Mozilla?

Q2. I have created a script called GO which I type at the command line as su
-  to connect to the internet.  I have chmodded it so it has an 's' in the
right place so that I can run it from KDE.  However, pppd still complains
that I am not a root user.  How can I get the whole package to be run as a
user other than root?
