I've never seen what's wrong with sendmail, it's pretty straight forward
to setup. It certainly made sense to me. However, most people have their
moans about it, which often seem a tad exaturated.

As for your problem, you can see the guid for a group in /etc/group.
Though, if you've tried making a new group it shouldn't fit into the error
you're getting.
