I suppose it's time for some IT training, with a little "inter-relationship" 
politics :)

Actually, due to my armed forces based typing skills, I tend to do most of the 
computer based work for her anyway - so while the idea of having her 
paperwork stored digitally could/would be of use to her, to get the best out 
of it, she would have to learn how to use it - It's also about me learning to 
do a few of the more in depth "computer type things" that I've heard so much 
about, but don't really understand.

I think that all the identifcation I need would be to use a "name" and for 
magazine articles, a publication identifier. The exact format ? I'll have to 
work out the best way of identiying mag articles when I know/understand what 
tools are best to use. Though I would have thought the use of keywords for 
searching should work - as per Mark's "step 1, option 2" suggestion ?
