The configuration file needs to be in /etc/X11 (or wherever that dodgy
disto Gentoo puts it ;) ) for the X server to pick it up and use it. You
can force it to use another config file i.e. XFree86 -xf86config
./Mooses.rule.cfg but this will only start the basic X server - none of
that graphical stuff :)
