Hello sussex,
"Ok, houston we have a go, yup mission gentoo is a go."
<big cheshire grin>
I now have a modem connection in gentoo. The problem was pppd
configuration files and /etc/resolv.conf not
being set up correctly to use PAP-authentication
Im extremely pleased with myself, as I did most of this on me
lonesome - thanx everyone tho for your input and moral support.
(cor! I can go and sleep now!)
I use a script to connect rather than wvdial (which I wasnt able to
get up and running). Then killall pppd to disconnect.
I call the script 'go' which I copied into /usr/sbin made it
executable with chmod.
I log in under user and then su
is this correct, or must I be ROOT to emerge? If so, how can
I ensure security whilst emerging/downloading stuff?
