[Sussex] How do I get round this ?

In my mission for kde3.2 and 2.6 version kernel's (everyone and his dog 
seems to be enjoying these except me :() I haven't got round to sorting 
out my gentoo problem yet because I found an apparent "magic bullet" to 
getting a 2.6 kernel into my mandrake install.

It goes like this

Go to "this link" and download the kernel 2.6 rpm
Add that same link to your Software Media Manager under Configuration >> 
Packaging
Open a console and cd to the directory where you saved the kernel rpm
type "urpmi kernel-2.6.filename"
Reboot
Choose 2.6 at the lilo bootloader, and enjoy!
Go back into Software Media Manager and uncheck the "Enable" box for the 
cooker link you added in step 2.
Optionally, go into the Mandrake Control Center, go to Boot, and rename 
the 2.6 in lilo to something cool.

(for info, the "this link" is a link to a french mandrake cooker mirror).

"Fair enough" you might say, "looks easy" you might say. Well, my 
question is that when I try

"urpmi kernel-2.6.2.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm"

I get this

"Preparing... ##################################################
Installation failed:
file /usr/lib/libuser/libuser_files.so from install of 
libuser-0.51.7-8mdk conflicts with file from package libuser1-0.51-6mdk
file /usr/lib/libuser/libuser_ldap.so from install of 
libuser-0.51.7-8mdk conflicts with file from package libuser1-0.51-6mdk
file /usr/lib/libuser/libuser_shadow.so from install of 
libuser-0.51.7-8mdk conflicts with file from package libuser1-0.51-6mdk"

So, I tried this

"rpm -e --nodeps libuser"

Which seemed to go OK, and dropped me back into the root prompt but when 
I try this

"urpmi kernel-2.6.2.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm"

again, I'm still getting this

Preparing... ##################################################

So does anyone know of any other way I could stop or get around the 
conflict ?
