[Sussex] Is this a "cop out" ?

I don't think he's being lazy - I think it's a very real concern.

However, I would question what their plans atually are? Exchange 5.5 is two
major versions out of date, and if it's not gone No-Longer-Supported by MS,
it will shortly... If I were the Chief Executive of the council, I'd want to
see fully-costed proposals for a Linux-based solution alongside any such
proposal for, say, Exchange2003.

It IS possible to use OfficeXP as if it were just Office97/2k, but it would
be missing the benefits. A proper moved to XP requires, in my experience,
just as much retraining as a move to OOo.

Shared calendaring is a big tool in many organisations - and the larger the
organisation, the more so, in my experience. There ARE good OpenSource
solutions to this...
