I was just trying to get an idea why MySQL is actually the more popular
database.  I guess the good availability of support is a reason as well as
the result of it's popularity.

An important factor, as it appears to me, is that MySQL has a commercial
licence option therefore more cash to spend on a jazzier web site, whereas
PostgreSQL is a much more traditional Free Software project without all
the commercialism.

Now I wouldn't want to gainsay what MySQL are doing, but I see some
parallels here with the rise of M$.  It was the buying public all wanting
to have to same product that everyone else was using and falling for all
the flashy presentation, who were really to blame for M$ success and the
abuses that this has subsequently led to.
