I've never had any problems with Linux dialling up to Freeserve - they 
just use standard kit to dial into and establish a PPP session. The ISP 
I've had most trouble with was Demon, as they use a nonstandard 
dialup/login method (you need to send an extra <CR> to start the PPP 
session).

I've even got Linux to dialup to AOL - but as we all know, they're not 
actually an ISP.

 From the style of your reply, it seems you're using a broken mail 
client, i.e. one that's not standards compliant, but it only takes 2 
seconds to scroll down..
