[Sussex] Firefox Query

A pet hate of mine is thousands of browser windows and hence I _love_ 
the tabbed browsing in Mozilla/Firefox.

My question is that many internet sites use the html code to open a new 
window when you click on a link. Mozilla suppresses this and opens in a 
tab if you explicitly ask it to (right-click menu), but if you don't 
realise that you're going to get a new window, the behaviour is very 
irritating.

Does anyone know if there is a way to configure it to open new window 
requests in a tab by default?
