Alternatively, might be worth trying t'other way round and attaching to
a WinXP share from Suse. Might be easier / quicker than tinkering
around with the Samba daemons. Of course you'll still need some
cabling, etc to hook it all up with. Have a look at the smbclient and
smbmount commands. You'll probably find you need to be root to mount
the share (very frustratingly never cracked doing arbitrary smb mounts
as a normal user - anyone? from the command line that is), but you can
then bash into the shared folders / use MC / whatever to copy across
what you need.
Don't know Suse so it may be that Yast has a cunning doodah that sets up
samba for you, so YMMV.
Speedtouch resources can be found here

I nipped carefully around this problem by installing IPCop on an old PC
and plugging my speedtouch (blue flat one) into it. Works a treat.
Smoothwall also works great with it. You'll need the firmware from here:-
http://www.smoothwall.org/get/ (down the bottom of the page)
You can use this firmware with both IPCop and Smoothwall. (You may need
it for the native drivers above as well).
