The AFFS Annual Conference, or AFFSAC, is a mix of in-depth technical
demonstration and thought-provoking community talks. Last year was
particularly well attended, and we hope to repeat that again this year.
The complete list of topics is yet to be finalised, but will include:

      * Gentoo GNU/Linux - an introduction (Tim Yamin, Lead Developer -
        Gentoo Release Engineering)
      * Software Patents - the Road Ahead (Ciaran O'Riordan, FSF Europe)
      * Hula - a different take on groupware (Alex Hudson, Hula
        Project/AFFS)

As well as presentations by leading members of the free software
community, we are pleased to offer an all-day exhibition space this
year. Amongst our exhibitors will be developers from the Debian and
Gentoo projects, demonstrating the latest advances in free software
operating system technology. The Foundation for a Free Information
Infrastructure (FFII-UK) will also be exhibiting, providing further
information on software patents and other political issues.

After the main conference, we will also hold the annual general meeting
of the association. The meeting will officially end at 5pm, but many of
us will retreat to a local pub for socialising and further discussion.
There will also be opportunities for key signing at various points
throughout the day.

Registration is free for members of the AFFS, and you can both join and
register online:

There are a variety of food outlets locally, and catering will be
provided on the day. Additionally, all delegates will be able to make
use of the cafeteria within the venue itself. If you have dietary or
access needs, please let us know beforehand if possible, and we will
ensure you are able to enjoy the day.

For more information about the venue, including directions, please see
the website run by the Resource Centre:
