During all this updating stuff I'm doing with this newly installed
Gentoo, I'm getting a few errors, similar to these two:-

Now, if I check my system, the CHOST setting in my make.conf says
"CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"" and if I look at the gcc-config -l, I see
"gcc-config -l
[1] i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.5-20050130 *
[2] i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.5-20050130-hardened
[3] i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.5-20050130-hardenednopie
[4] i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.5-20050130-hardenednopiessp
[5] i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.5-20050130-hardenednossp"

So is it that the portage errors are looking for a different version of
gcc ? Or should there be a symlink from the i386 to the installed i686
or something like that?

Or can I have different version(s) installed to cater for these issues?

Or doesn't it work like that ?????

regards

John D.
