[Sussex] synce - not connecting

Yup, tried that Steve, I'm not getting anything at all. Not a peep out 
of the XDA.

As you can see, the usb system can see it

But having sat down and tried to follow the synce howto I can't work out 
how to find out what the XDA is (or isn't) doing.
