Whilst we're on the subject, following the general rule that Bash 
generally follows Emacs key bindings you can also press Ctrl-r to do a 
reverse progressive i-search on your Bash session.  Very handy when you 
want to repeat an action.

Have a play with it, Emacs users wil be familiar with the functionality.
