[Sussex] Knoppix 3.9 / pen drive problem confirmed

Okay, don't need volunteers any more ...
Others have experienced similar problems with the knoppix 3.9 disk.
Although the various applications on the disk work as expected, there
seems to be an issue with the file system, UnionFS.
A Google search on:
     "Knoppix 3.9" hangs OR freezes
- reveals half a dozen relevant pages among the results.

I'm not happy about continuing to promote 3.9, because I think that if a
user has created a nice file, they will want to save it, then find they
can't.
I remember my own frustration at creating a nice little logo in GIMP the
first time I ever tried a live knoppix disk, then not knowing how to
save it.

Nik, you announced you were going to burn CDs ready for the next BCF.
What do you think of reverting back to the tried and trusted 3.8?
