More MythTV adventures.
Having tried MythTV on Gentoo and Fedora, I diverted into Windows XP
Media Center Edition. Jeez, pants or what!
The hardware and DVD decoder requirements for XP Media Center are very
restrictive. Your graphics card needs to have 48Mb RAM for example, and
this means my Biostar IDEQ built in graphics chip won't do. Whilst XP
Media Center is quite a polished product, the best way to set it up is
to buy a complete media center PC.
So, back to MythTV. Having found problems with MythTV on Gentoo and
Fedora, I've decided to try Debian Sarge, particularly as some LUG
members have had some success with it, and there is plenty of info on
MythTV on Debian out there.
So far I'm pleasantly surprised by the Sarge install. Very trouble-free
and straightforward so far.
Who knows, maybe I've found the binary distro I've been looking for.
