[Sussex] SuSE 9.3 - post intsall snag

I can't start my user account. When I try to log in, I'm just getting 
the error

"No write access to '/home/John/.ICEauthority'."

I've had a look at the /home/John from root, but nothing is ringing any 
bells.

What or where should I be looking to sort this please ?

p.s. Oh and thanks to Dave Chapman for the SuSE discs, the install has 
been reasonably painless - just the above error and getting the nvidia 
driver running have been the only problems!
