Many thanks for your help on this.

My problems now seem to centre on the bttv module and ivtv. Despite a
lot of reading about this I'm still mystified as to how the two
components fit into the system.

My understanding of bttv is that it provides support for the PVR 350
chipset, and ivtv is the driver. I've tried compiling bttv into the
kernel and as a module, and I get the following:

On attempting modprobe bttv option card=xx tuner=xx I get an error
message about undefined symbols in the module.

Dmesg shows kobject register failure messages for tveeprom and msp3400 -
I'm not sure if these are fatal.

I'm trying to get x to output to tv via the PVR-350. Here's my
xorg.conf:

As you can see x doesn't load the necessary module for the PVR-350.

Any advice you can give is really helpful.
