Has anyone suggested changing the permissions on the device /dev/hda,
perhaps to chmod 666 /dev/hda?
Add to the fstab:
/dev/hda /media/cdrom iso9660 noauto,user,exec,ro 0 0
So that all users can mount and umount the cdrom drive.
