Though I got the impression that the lack of an "access like" DB front 
end was something that the author definitely missed.

I certainly understand that, because in my work environment, the 
management team rely heavily on "it" for all sorts of 
accounting/collation type things.

Perhaps, once OOo 2 hits the streets in anger, we might see a few more 
of these kind of articles.
