Picked up a copy of Micro Mart issue 872 and found a three-page article
entitled "Introduction to Podcasting".
The article confirmed that a Podcast is essentially a radio show and
could be thought of as an audio blog. It can be all-talk, all-music or a
bit of both, but it has to be ripped to an encoded music format so that
it can be played back at will. But more than this, to be a genuine
Podcast, it has to be output on a more or less serial basis, and the
process has to be automated as follows: every time you produce a new
Podcast on your site, the file's location has to go out on an RSS feed.
Your subscribers then receive this RSS feed and go and pick up your
show, or rather, they schedule it to be downloaded at a convenient time.
This means, of course, that you have to interest people in becoming
subscribers.
Anyway, the article covered the method of making a Podcast and hosting
it and all. There is no video element at all in a true Podcast.
Our own project has nothing to do with Podcasting, but rather is a mini
series of audio video tutorials.
