[Sussex] powerline ethernet wierdness thanks to rudolph

Oooh. Interesting experience.

Our power just dipped. Clearly someone in the nearby town turned on
one light up reindeer too many. 

So our lights dimmed. The power to the machines didn't go off.

But what did go off was the powerline ethernet. Suddenly there was
at best 50ms icmp time to machines. Mostly they were uncontactable.

Anyone explain that? Presumably when the power dropped there was no
carrier signal for the network traffic?
