That sets root's passwd to something.

But you also need to config sudo so that it asks for the root password
instead of the user password.

You can do that with the:

   rootpw

parameter in sudoers.


However, I have to say I think the best thing is to stick with
ubuntu's default. It's the best thing to do: give user's access to
their machines.

It's like having a wheel group but making the user's of the machine
automatically join it.
