Turn off Automatic Updates from control panel, you can set it to download
and you install the updates later.
I suggest getting the latest copy of autopatcher (from autopatcher.com)
and installing that, especially if you install a fresh copy of SP2 on a
machine, autopatcher will install all the patches in one session and bring
everything up to date.
Windows XP has this uncanny habit of installing patches and prompting the
user for a restart, if its ignored the computer restarts anyway. If you
have any unsaved work open, it will be lost!
