[Sussex] Encryption for laptop use

Afternoon all,
I finally got myself a laptop & I'm planning on putting Debian on it.
For all the obvious reasons, I want to make sure that some things
aren't viewable if my laptop gets lost/stolen - particularly Firefox's
files, since they'd give away far too many of my passwords.
Given the number of laptops in evidence last night, I suspect that I'm
not the first to consider the issue, so I figured I'd ask what people
would recommend. Using PAM & DM-crypt to mount an encrypted home
partition seems to be the most popular choice of howto guides,
according to google..
Any comments welcome!
TIA
Dominic
