[Sussex] FC4 - FTP timeout

Thanks to all those who replied. I eventually tracked down that I had two
versions of my uploading program, only one of which worked with my new FC5.
I have therefore adopted is as the working version!  As ever, when something
goes wrong I find I learn more about things work. Just in case there is more
than one problem, I have asked the users to send me a detailed report of any
difficulties they experience.
