Why is it embarrassing? There have been ads for everyday items that that
have used at least as much sex as that ad did. I find that the more a
society tolerate the better it is, not the other way around.
If it is legal (and I can only assume that it is) to place such an ad on
the side of a truck and drive it around where anyone (including minors)
can see it, then including it in Google Maps is just reflecting the current
state of the US society.
Removing content because some object to the subject matter would, IMHO, be
censorship beyond that required by law and thus evil - and Google aims to
do no evil.
While the image capture system is intensive in that it requires you to
take an image of every few feet of the area I doubt it is intensive in
terms of human monitoring. A car with a 360Ã camera coupled to a GPS sensor
would gather the data needed. The only human involvement in the system is
likely to be the drivers. It is quite possible that the driver may not
have registered the ad at all if (s)he was properly concentrating on the
road and the other road users.
