This may not be very interesting for everybody but as a new attender at your monthly meeting I thought that I would show a sign of activity even if it is at an elemental level!

My contact in NZ mentioned pclinux as being an easy distro to install so I tried it. I was not very impressed, and the desktop is KDE, so I looked around at other ones and found pclinux gnome version. This has ndiswrapper in the kernel and although I had a lot of bother with an old pc, eventually I installed it and it runs fine. I particularly wanted a wireless connection as the room where I use it is far away from the router and a hard wired connection would be difficult to achieve.

I generally use ubuntu and it does most that I want, in my opinion ubuntu is easy to install and use. However it is good to keep an open mind and try other distros just for the experience!
