Perhaps I have my terminology wrong.  I mean the character you typically put
between paths in environment variables such as PATH.

 $ echo $PATH
/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/dafydd/b
