[SWLUG] Linux and Charities

I have just een speaking to the manageress of a local charity, and asked
whether or not the relatively high cost of upgrades of proprietary operating
systems is an issue for many charities.

The response that it certainly was.

I further asked whether there was any awareness in charity management
circles of the option of using Linux as an alternative, and found that there
was little or no awareness of it.

I think that there is considerable scope for the deployment of Linux on the
desktop in this area.
