If you keep the replies on-list, you're more likely to solve the problem
as everyone can help out then, not just me ;)

If you've got an ISA slot in your linux machine, I can give you a
network card with RJ45 and BNC if you come to the next LUG.
Otherwise, um, you'll need to get the hub working (excuse me stating the
obvious!)
You need straight cables between the computers and the hub, there should
be a link light on the hub and/or the network card which comes on when
the network card's able to talk to the hub. You said earlier that Zeus
had a link light. Did the Windows machines manage that? If not, there
may be a setting in the network card config to tell them which
connection to use, BNC or RJ45. Make sure that's correct.
