[SWLUG] adding up columns

evening swlug'ers!

i have some csv files fairly huge ones, with data that i've accumilated 
from various boxes around the place. i was wondering if there was a quick 
way using shell tools to add up colums, my original files are like:

location1,9
location2,1
location3,4
location1,6
location2,7
location1,3
etc

i'm hoping theres some set of commands that could output another csv file 
like :

location1,18
location2,9
location3,4
