First off, hi to everyone as im new to the list :o)
Ive been tasked to look into getting a particular website running with a
browser on Linux, more specifically the BT e.Co system which requires IE and
is heavily dependant on ActiveX controls.
- From what Ive found out [from looking at the Java embedded webpages and a few
BT online pdf's] BT Trustwise is based upon Verisign technologies and
embedded within the pages are some JavaScript and VBScript functions calling
for the agent type and performing some SSL key functions [Java isnt my strong
point :P ] . According to
www.ignite.com/uk/products/trustservices/pdf/WebApps.pdf [page 30], "PTA only
works for browsers using Microsoft Windows operating systems because it
relies on the Microsoft Cryptographic API" .
I have installed Crossover Office
[http://www.codeweavers.com/products/office/] which is a commercial WINE
based project and successfully installed IE within it. Sadly, while it is
largely functional, ActiveX is listed as a 'known limitation' at present. I
then looked at the Crossover Plugin [which gives some ActiveX support, namely
Flash/Quicktime etc] but it seems to anchor into Netscape/Mozilla based
browsers but not into the WINE IE instance :/ [I have sent a similar mail to
this one to their discussion list btw].
Ive also taken a quick look at Reaktivate, a KDE project looking at getting
ActiveX controls working with Konqueror [to then potentially fake the Agent
Type .. ] , but this is still at an early dev stage it seems and this is also
looking at Flash/Quicktime etc rather than the kind of ActiveX control im
needing.
Does anyone out there have any idea's?
Thanks in advance :)
