A word of warning about this, though, which may save you a headache that I
got.

I tried to get rsync up and running a while back, and just couldn't get it to
work properly, before finally discovering the reason was that my .cshrc file
was giving out some unexpected output to stdout. I'm fairly confidently
guessing that the same would be true of a .bashrc file.

This output was entirely my own doing, as I've set it up to echo a message
back to the terminal if it, for example, finds a /opt/kde3/bin directory to
add to the path. This is handy, since I use this file across a number of
differently configured computers.

Anyhow, just to let you know that, if you do use rsync, you need to make sure
that when you start a new shell, nothing is echoed back to the terminal.

Regards
