I use Evo here and at work, so I know it *can* work :)

Have you got Evo set to use utf-8? In Evo 1.5, go to:

Tools -> Settings -> Composer -> Character Set and make sure it's set to
utf-8.

It's likely to be a similar process for earlier versions too. Then you
can type Ŷ ŵ and a host of other íñţěŕèşŧĩńģ characters as you see fit.
