Those with more than 2 ports sometimes have external power supplies,
but generally their use is optional. Generally, KVM switches pull
their power from PS/2 and/or USB ports. Depending on the wattage of
the power supplies in your machines, an external power supply might be
useful, especially on the USB ones.
