I have a series of .html files in a directory that I wish to replace
with .php files totally invisibly.

That is to say I want the .php files to work as if they were still .html
files.

so filename.php would still be found by a link to filename.html

The way to do this is with URL rewriting. I have used this before but I can
never quite get the hang of it.

I have surfed around but all the site I can find tell you how do far more
complicated things.

Can someone tell me the line to put in the .htaccess file?
